Delicious Food at Zion Road Hawker Centre

I grew up eating at hawker centre. In Singapore, we have a open air eating complex which sells variety of food at a cheap price. We usually call such eating places hawker centre. Be prepared to come with tissue paper as it is usually quite hot to eat at a hawker centre. However, this is really worth it as there are simply many variety of delicious food there.

Today, I am going to recommend the two delicious food which I usually eat at Zion Road Hawker Centre. Zion Road hawker centre is just across the Great World City Shopping Mall.

1) No. 18 Zion Road Fried Kway Teow

Do not be put off by the dark noodles here. This is a very delicious food! I love the Fried Kway Teow here.

There are a variety of ingredients in the noodles. There are bean sprouts, lup cheong (dried chinese sausage), fish cake, egg and cockles. It takes a lof of skill to whip up this Fried Kway Teow. The heat of the wok must be just right and you need to stir fry it fast and mix all the ingredients well togather.

The noodles have a slight burnt taste to it, and there is a mixture of sweetness and spicy flavour to it. The texture of the yellow noodles with the kway teoh is just right. The noodles are slightly moist, and it is not too dry. However, do note that this dish is high in calorie. But, I think it is occasionally fine to indugle ourselves once in a while.

2) Lau Goh Teochew Chye Thow Kway

Chye Thow Kway means fried carrot cake. The carrot cake is made of radish and flour and need to be steam before frying it.

This combination of the radish and the egg is simply delicious. When you first bite it, you can taste the crispiness of the egg. Then, the fluffy and moist egg togather with the soft delicate radish will continue to melt in your mouth.

I love to dip my radish cake with some sambal chilli sauce and it goes very well with the carrot cake.
